After playing a season-high 43 minutes in Saturday's loss to Orlando, New Jersey wing Vince Carter told the Kentucky Fried press he didn't think coach Lawrence Frank was using him correctly. "I see myself as a sixth man, no wait, a relief pitcher. The kind of guy you bring in for the fourth quarter to shut down the other team. All these minutes... I feel another knee injury coming on."
Carter's comments came on the heels of his admission that he hasn't given his full effort every night. When asked if he was afraid that his attitude might alienate fans, Carter said, "Hell no. My fans understand me. They know what it's like to download a tight new album to your IPod and not be able to think about anything else. They know what it's like to force a trade from a team that disrespected you over and over again by not catering to your every whim. They know what it's like to find out that Alpha Romeo doesn't make a sports car in Carolina Blue. And if they don't, I'll win them back with a 360 windmill dunk during the All-Star game. You know, they voted me a starter again."
