After much delay, I offer a brief look back on another fine season at the Kentucky Fried Basketball Association:
Major props are in order for JCPeery's Provo Jomegamen, who completed the second perfect season in Association history, capping his 19 game winning streak with a crushing defeat of Ciwasko's Oscar Robertson and the Crispus Attucks Tigers for the highly coveted Original Recipe title. The Jomegamen became the 7th member of the ever expanding OR title holder club and evened out the all-time inter-conference rivalry at 4 games a piece.
Younggod's Sunshine Megatron walked away with the B-League title after dropping 245 points on Trantony's incumbent Sengir Vampires who were known as Saban's Dolphins when they won the '06 title.
In the Greatest Show's fourth season, Derf's Oinktown Flying Pigs captured their second championship, firmly establishing themselves as a dominant force in the league. They also retained the Big Top conference's undefeated record in title match-ups.
Freelance's DAGO REDEMPTION carried over their regular season dominance (15-1) into the playoffs and captured their first ever Turnpike title.
In the Sugar Ray's fourth season, ZZray's Ashville Assassins finally stepped up on behalf of the Leonard Conference and wrestled the title from the Robinson Conference who had earned championship honors three years running.
Doug notched his 5th ever Kentucky Fried Championship when his Cuban Lynx defeated DJLucky's O-Town Carney Barkers in the Johnnie Walker title game.
The Broham stayed on par with Doug - at 5 lifetime titles - thanks to my unstoppable Mastodon Farm, who went 15-1 in the regular season and then demolished opponents with an average margin of victory of 32 points in the Travishamockery playoffs.
Thref23's T-Town Ballaz defeated Mrobison's John o Groats Eagles 247-230 for the More Cowbell championship.
Crazydave's Palm Beach Royals emerged victorious from the Kung Fu Grip playoffs to take the league's second championship.
Mharris, delivered on his big time like Mike Bibby potential, with a championship in the Paris Hilton Sex Tape league, thanks to an outstanding playoff run by his Mad Matt's Road Warriors (XXX).
In the Crazy 88s, Tweebles' Catonsville Suns wrestled the title from Thref23's 2006 champion PHX-BOS Connect in a tight finals match-up: 236-232.
Nostalgyk's Minnetonka Surly Stevedores walked away with the inaugural Big 16 championship after defeating Trantony's Crimson Manticores.
In the Demockeracy.com's Texas Fanball 2k7 league, Tom Cruise's Witchcraft proved too powerful for the Vrsovicke Vrany and Tom is now rumored to be using the Demockeracy championship cup as baby Suri's bathtub.
The rookie Texas Fanball boys also managed to kick our butts by a full point per game to earn top league honors. The Colonel is currently debating whether to ban them from future Kentucky Fried games due to their ties with Scientology.

Top 10 GMs as of 2007
We've devised a GM ranking system which uses number of championships as its main criteria and lifetime regular season wins as the tie breaker. The top 10 as of July 2007:
GM (Rank)
Broham (1) - 5 Titles - 240 Wins
Doug (2) - 5 Titles - 143 Wins
JCPeery (3) - 4 Titles - 230 Wins
ZZray (4) - 4 Titles - 163 Wins
Colonel (5) - 3 Titles - 205 Wins
Mrobison (6) - 2 Titles - 218 Wins
Antonio (7) - 2 Titles - 147 Wins
Leigh (8) - 2 Titles - 117 Wins
Trantony (9) - 2 Titles - 97 Wins
Derf (10) - 2 Titles - 61 Wins
Note that I am now officially the greatest player in the KF land! JCPeery - you'll need to update your tag line!
Thref23 is the only multi title holder not currently in the top 10.
And of course, looking forward to next season:
As you may have heard through the grapevine, the Association will be undergoing some minor changes for next season. When the infrastructure for kfba.net was put together to support the wonderful game of Kentucky Fried Basketball is was done with the intent of serving over 5,000 GMs.
Alas the fantasy sports market is still not quite ready for the Colonel's Kentucky Fried goodness and we are forced to scale operations back in order to continue servicing the 300 strong that make up our community.
Our short term goals remain the same - 1) improve trading functionality and controls and 2) build GM user pages with association wide rankings, lifetime win loss records and championship history. However our past misadventures with Kentucky Fried marketing (over 30 thousand spent to date) and development funds (likewise) have left our coffers bare.
These things will come in time however, as folks are able to contribute improvements.
But on we move, focused no longer on building a business (word of advice to anyone thinking of starting a fantasy basketball site - don't do it!) but on maintaining the basic infrastructure - Hosting site, automated box-scores, game functionality and message boards - necessary to keep the Kentucky Fried dream alive and well for all that wish to enjoy it.
Our content management system and Associated Press picture subscription on the other hand aren't necessities and are fairly expensive luxuries (each one costing more than the entire site generates in yearly revenue!). So they find themselves on their way out the door.
Thus this is the final article to be powered by Metaverse. Fret not however KFBA fans - I plan to substitute the Around the Bucket articles with a blog - once our boards are upgraded to include them. And all of you will be welcome to host your own Association blogs as well!
But there are more changes in store. Starting next season all leagues will need to select a commissioner, who will be in charge of policing the league (with full authority to overturn trades) and maintaining it (e.g. recruiting new GMs for orphaned teams.) League commissioners will be able to set guidelines against keeper for star trades as they desire. And league GMs will be able to hold coups to overthrow commissioners with a majority and quorum. More on this will be coming via the League Boards shortly.
Also we are changing the pricing structure. While individual teams will remain available a $19 per season. Memberships will be available for $39 that will allow a GM to own as many teams as their hearts desire. $5 prize pool fee per team, as well as OR $50 prize are additional. Prize pool funds will be paid out in full (75% to the winner and 25% to the second place team as always) but are not longer guaranteed to be tally $1000 between them.
Because we are in the process of transitioning from our CC Merchant setup (very costly) to Paypal (very not costly) our shopping cart is not yet able handle to transactions. In the meantime GMs can make arrangements directly with the Colonel (colonel@kfba.net) to send payment for their team or membership directly through Paypal.com.
Otherwise we will continue to offer the same Kentucky Fried game you've all come to know and love.
I am being informed that draft picks, keeper selections and trading will open soon! Notification will be posted on the League boards (which you should be subscribed to, so you get updates by email whenever posts are made!)
